Don’t for one minute think this will be a whiny diatribe on how unfair the publishing world is. Everyone knows it’s tough.  Including me.  But my journey to be a published author has had so many detours, and tumbles into potholes, that it finally became comical. Was the universe out to get me?

No.  No, it was not. Even after all of the hardships, I still consider myself successful at what I do.  I write.  And not just novels, but essays, short stories, and magazine articles. One thing is certain – that regardless of how tattered and beaten-up I’ve gotten on my writing journey, I’ve learned a lot.  Both what to do, and what not to do.

I’ve decided that it’s time to write about my twisting, turning, tortuous ride. I’m sure I’m not the only writer out there who’s been through the wringer. Maybe someone else would like to hear about my authorly travels; maybe you can empathize. Maybe just knowing someone else has experienced the same thing will make your journey easier to bear. Misery loves company, or so they say.

But…I’m not miserable! Far from it!  I’m persistent, determined, and tough, and I will eventually get where I want to be. I’m just taking the scenic route.

More to come…
